I could not be happier!
Posted on January 15, 2008
Hello Nikki and Viv,
I am so pleased to say that my bed (5′0″ Orleans Four Poster in Oyster paint) arrived on January 10th and was assembled on January 11th and it is absolutely beautiful! I could not be happier!
The woodworking and carvings are fabulous. The overall quality of the bed is superior. The finish color is a perfect match with the rest of my furnishings!
I now know that I could not have ever found a comparable bed in the US. It was definitely worth the little extra effort I put forth to arrange shipping. Actually, the whole process transpired much more easily than I had expected.
I will send you a picture of the bed once I have decided on bedding. For now, I have older, not so attractive bed linens on the bed. I would like to have the bedding custom made so that none of the wood will be hidden by quilts that have too much drop and so forth.
I sincerely thank you for your help and for making this a very pleasant transaction.
Please feel free to contact me if you are ever in need of a customer referral. I have only positive comments concerning Revival Beds!
Best Regards,
Rebecca VanScoder

Purchase of County Kerry super king size bed and bedroom furniture
Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say how delighted we are with our bed and bedroom furniture from Revival Beds.
We looked on-line searcing for a large bed and your company website popped up showing an excellent website with detailed pictures and information. We order a brochure which arrived immediately and placed our order with yuor friendly, helpful staff.
Once built we were contacted to arrange a mutually convenient date for delivery. Unfortunatelly we had to change a couple of times due to delays in our self build but this seemed to be no problem to your guys who were happy to arrange a date to suit.
The guy delivering the furniture was equally helpful and friendly and built the bed for us and checked we were 100% satisfied before he left. The bed looks fantastic and is exactly the centre piece we wanted for our new bedroom and a talking point for our family and friends who have come to see our new self build house. Not only does it look great but the memory foam mattress is so comfortable we are strugling to get up in the mornings!
A rarity these days, fantastic products, excellent reasoable prices (couldn’t find cheaper for quality) and brilliant staff. Keep up the good work and consider branching in to other areas - your winning formula won’t let you down.
Kind Regards
Jenny Farnborough-Brown

The bed itself is gorgeous
Posted on January 14, 2008
Hello there to all at Retford.
I am writing with regard to the above bed which was delivered to us in the middle of December by Andy. He was great and very patient with my 2 yr old whose constant attempts to “help” would have tried the patience of a saint. He also gave me good advise regarding wardrobes and our nightmare stairs.
We have one minor problem with the bed - we are struggling to get up in a morning! (Thanks to excellent advise regarding the type of mattress to buy given our “weight disparity” (polite)!
The bed itself is gorgeous - and creates gasps when all our visitors catch sight of it. Thank you for all your care and attention. We will no doubt be in touch when we finally get round to buying more furniture.
Regards
Lisa Agg

Dear Revival Beds
A note to express a very sincere thank you for the magnificent bed and furniture that you delivered to us 2 weeks ago.
Whilst each piece is of an extremely high standard and the bed most comfortable, combined together they are most impressive and really do give our master bedroom a “wow” factor way beyond anything that we could have hoped for.
Also, your most courteous and helpful delivery driver cannot be praised enough.
Thank you once again.

Revival beds take their inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement of the 19th century.
Posted on December 13, 2007
The arts and Crafts movement began primarily as a search for authentic and meaningful styles for the late 19th century and as a reaction to the drab historic interiors of the Victorian era and to “soulless” machine made production furniture aided and influenced by the Industrial Revolution.
William Morris, founding father of the arts and Crafts Movement once famously said: “If you want a Golden Rule that will fit everybody this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” Taken from The Beauty of Life 1880.
It’s so refreshing to know that there is still a company who take William Morris’s values to heart and recreate them as part of there own thinking. Revival Beds based in Nottinghamshire, have been producing beautiful custom made solid beds and bedroom furniture for over 25 years.
Russell Mottishaw explains, “We believe as a company we are keeping the Arts and Crafts philosophies alive in the way that we design, individually build and hand polish our products. We stay true to these values and take great pride in every bed and piece of furniture we produce. All our designs can be custom made to customers own requirements. We recently built a a giant 8ft four poster bed four a client. Four posters are among our best selling models. This popularity is due to the fact that most antique beds are only four feet wide and therefore to small for most peoples requirements.”
Russell concluded: “We are all very proud of the fact that all our beds and bedroom furniture are more popular than ever before and that there are still many people who appreciate and care and attention that goes into our quality, custom made furniture.”
Revival beds are beautifully constructed with the County Kerry 4 poster bed having over 245 individually handmade components. The collection comes in a choice of traditional and contempory styles with numerous finishes including staining, waxing and various paint finishes. The finishing process alone can take up to 48 hours with each bed undergoing a seven part process that includes two levels of fine sanding, distressing , de-nibbing, painting waxing and polishing.
“The company produces eight different models including the Liberty collection which reflects the Arts and Crafts movement”
The term Arts and Crafts and Mission style are often used synonymously today. They refer to a style of home design and furnishing emphasizing natural materials, especially wood, and showcasing a pronounced geometry in the design. The Liberty Range is polished in a Pale Oak wax which offers an heirloom quality which deepens with age. The subtle addition of English pear wood plaques inlaid into the bed completes the William Morris look.
The Mackintosh collection - Distinctive style and design
For many people Charles Rennie Mackintosh is most closely associated with the design and manufacture of furniture. His earliest designs show a strong affinity to the Arts and Crafts movement while his final designs are a clear precursor to the art deco period.
This Mackintosh collection accurately reflects the arts and Crafts design influences right down to the locally made crackle glaze ceramic tiles which are to be found on all the Mackintosh beds and bedroom furniture.

Bedroom Makeovers
Posted on July 11, 2007
TV is the most powerful sales medium in the world so when we get the opportunity to show our beds on a TV program we always jump at the chance. “Here are a few bedroom makeovers”.
Mackintosh Bed makes TV debut in front of 1.4 million viewers
An enquiry from ITV’s ‘60 Minute Makeover’ led to the Mackintosh Bed being featured in a bedroom makeover. The show hosted by Claire Sweeney attracts an average weekday audience of 1.4 million viewers and was aired in 2005. It’s the sort of exposure that’s likely to give companies a huge boost as previously featured products have recorded rocketing sales after the show.
‘60-Minute Makeover’ used the Mackintosh Bed as the focal point in the re-decoration of a replica Dutch windmill. These pictures show the fabulous Mackintosh in a very odd shaped bedroom.
French Life painted Sleigh Bed completes Paul & Alison Buckley’s dream home
Carpenter Paul Buckley and his family moved out to Brittany in France over 12 months ago to start a ‘Gite Management’ and property maintenance company.
The ‘Channel 5′ documentary program ‘My Dream Home Abroad’ follows Paul and his family’s progress as he restores his own 17th century farm cottage and develops his business abroad. The program demonstrates the real trials and tribulations setting up home abroad can bring – ‘warts and all’.
As completion of the cottage gets closer, Paul and wife Alison think about furnishing the home. Alley has set her heart on a cream painted bedroom suite and particularly a traditional Sleigh Bed. This is when Alley contacted Revival beds for details on French Life hand painted furniture.
Once she’d seen the painted wooden samples and the brochure she immediately sent Paul back to the UK with the camera crew to get a Sleigh Bed from the Revival Bed Company.
While collecting the bed Paul manages to get some good footage of the Revival Bed finishing processes for the TV program before taking the Cream Painted Sleigh Bed back to France.
Since getting the Sleigh bed into the cottage Alison has promised herself the rest of the Cream painted French Life bedroom furniture.
Colin & Justin - How not to decorate your home
A surprise enquiry from TV design team Colin and Justin led to us installing a 6’0†County Kerry Four Poster bed into their own town house in the heart of Glasgow.
The team who are noted for their tips on the hit TV show ‘How Not To Decorate’ where they transform the inside of a fairly drab looking house into something much more exciting chose, the County Kerry four poster, two bedsides and a four door wardrobe because they were looking for a bedroom with a Celtic theme.
Justin Ryan said “People know us for our work on contemporary houses, but when you make your living as an interior designer you have to be familiar with all sorts of styles. The watchword is quality, whether it’s old, new, a one off or one of thousands, furnishings and furniture need to be the best quality you can find for the money you want to spendâ€. You can find more Colin and Justin’s thoughts from their book. The million pound property experiment and ‘How not to decorate your home’.
